@EUCommission This treaty was concluded (slightly) less than 6 years after the end of the most disastrous war in the World's and Europe's history. And among the signatories, four former allies and two former axis nations, was still a lot of bad blood and it would take several decades and a new generation of European citizens to overcome this centuries-old hatred and mistrust.
This makes this act of foundation so remarkable. It is with our enemies we must make peace, not with our friends!

@EUCommission How did we go from a peace project to a a mass surveillance project? I do not believe the people who participated in founding the EU would look kindly upon requiring us to register with a state actor, through the EUDI, to take part in public discourse or talk to each other online.
