    I think people know I'm an @xfce girlie. But for tablets/touch and Wayland my setup consists of @gnome plus "dash to panel", "ArcMenu", "Desktop icons NG" extensions - fantastic. Those plus Ubuntu tiling assistant, Ubuntu app indicators and an honorable mention to the system monitor (the one by @fmuellner). Someone should honestly make a desktop with those defaults. #gnu #linux #gnome #xfce

      I keep a system monitor on every panel (on Xfce I'm using xfce4-systemload-plugin) for different reasons, sometimes it's a low-spec PC, but for high-spec machines things like multiple VMs can really start to choke it.

        With this many extensions I definitely see how someone like Valve can be like "yeah we're not going to maintain and ship all these, let's just ship @kde and call it a day, despite things like irregular release schedules, etc. that make it appear sometimes less than ideal as an upstream. Conversely Canonical maintains and ships like four extensions to maintain their vision of the desktop.

          @RomanOnARiver

          Er... KDE ships Plasma regularly every four months:
