@hpod16 Nice! I like trains, too.
1. why are EU member states taxing energy for trains, but not for air travel?
2. when will it be possible to book a single ticket across more than one country and operator, and enjoy passenger rights for the full journey?
3. What might the EC do to induce operators to offer more family friendly pricing?@hpod16 4. What is the EU doing to make night trains more affordable? What is the role of track charges in this context?
5. For how much longer will the EC tolerate border checks that are illegal under Schengen? And what is the EU doing to eliminate the racial profiling that happens during these checks? -

@radundtat
Well, the European Commission has announced the intention to put forward a legislative proposal to make this kind of thing possible. It’s especially important that your passenger rights get covered should a train be delayed and have you miss a connection in another country.
It’s called multimodal digital mobility services, or #MDMS (which sounds like some kind of drug lol) and is about connecting more than just #trains. -

@radundtat all that said I realise I can’t answer the “when”
Legislative proposals take the time they take and honestly my info on this is out of date. I’m going to have to talk to some colleagues who are transport experts -

Ooooh nice one! Tell me about the EU versions of japanese high speed trains (shinkansen) please and which cities they connect.

@hpod16 I love trains as well, especially as, traveling with dogs, it's necessary. I'd love to know more about traveling with pets, as it's a nightmare finding the right information, sometimes. We're going to hike in Sweden, this summer, from Italy, and it took so much time to figure out the best solution

@gilraen79 @hpod16 "with dogs" (Plural) - how many dogs do you have?
And are they more like maltesians oder st.bernadines? -

Is there anything you want to know more about? Ask me questions, tell me fun facts.@hpod16 Although there are trains crossing national borders in the EU, almost all trains are confined to a country. Why is that? Why are train routes so often determined by national borders, when we are supposed to have free movement in the EU?
This is especially relevant for night trains, where many routes have been cancelled or not been started because they are nationally controlled. This is a major barrier to trade and movement.

Is there anything you want to know more about? Ask me questions, tell me fun facts.@hpod16 I love the trains in the EU and they're my first choice in travel. I find that Portugal is isolated. There's just the one line between Lisbon and Madrid, no other stops (I live 3 hours from Lisbon). And the line has been broken for years now. I drive 3 hours to Spain instead and take the train from there. Also, missing a competent website to plan the journey, especially when crossing countries. Competitive pricing is another big issue. How can I promote/advocate for EU rail in Portugal?
