@sinituulia Ok, I didn't picture a petticoat with that much ruffle. 😄 That's a challenge with any bike. I mean, when the safety bike became popular women started to wear trousers to ride them. So, you are in good company.

@spinni81 I've made a couple slightly less ruffly ones, but most of the ones I own are of the less practical for biking variety. 😆 I do have trousers, but I prefer skirts!

Did you see the recent J. Draper video about early bikes and feminism? With the penny farthing?

@MsHearthWitch oh dang, you're gonna have a blast! It's so much fun! You can always just dip your toes in too if you're worried about weather or what not; just because you get a bicycle doesn't mean you have to bike *every* place (but you may find that you want to)! Welcome, and enjoy!

We have #BikeNite every Friday at 4PM Pacific on here if you have questions or concerns or just want some friendly folks to chat with (post them with the #BikeNitePQ hash tag and they get added to the queue and @ascentale will pick them up and start the discussion on Friday)!

@sam @MsHearthWitch @ascentale I came here to write something like what Sam wrote! And I’ll add/emphasize that being a Person Who Bikes Places is much better than being a Cyclist 😀🚴‍♀️❤️

        Mastodon, you are a influence...

Since I joined I have ditched most subscription stuff like Spotify, Amazon and Netflix.

        Made the swap to Linux.

        Started painting.

Now I am considering whether or not I could be a Person Who Bikes Places.

@MsHearthWitch not sure how the temperatures usually develop where you live and if it would work with your daily schedule, but in the summer I try and do my errands by bike before 10 am, so before it gets unbearably hot. Also I do have the option to choose a different route on my way home from work that's in the forest next to a river so it's much cooler than my usual route that's shorter but fully in the sun.

          @MsHearthWitch

My e-bike changed my life. I went from occasionally biking when the stars aligned perfectly to defaulting to the bike.

Currently considering getting a trailer so I can do hardware store runs.

                                        Mastodon, you are a influence...

Since I joined I have ditched most subscription stuff like Spotify, Amazon and Netflix.

                                        Made the swap to Linux.

                                        Started painting.

Now I am considering whether or not I could be a Person Who Bikes Places.

Check in your city if there is a Critical Mass ride, usually last Friday of every month after work as it’s a way to ride safely with others, meet other bikers, and enjoy a few hours biking in the city.

                                        Always wear a helmet.

                                        Just a moment...

@elfkin a few new additions, aye. The "there's no bad weather just bad clothes" contingent makes me want to hurl them into the sea.
