Static websites are the future.

Static websites are the future. Not every site needs to be dynamically generated. Having a #blog served by a complex CMS like WordPress feels unnecessary after using #11ty .
Compute is growing in cost and becoming scarce. Why waste it on sites suited for static generation?
Plus, who wants to host a server with a database, a CMS, a bunch of plugins and all the security headaches that comes with it? #SSG #IndieWeb #Blogging

@JessieHealdUK I went static in 2018. Haven't done a security patch since.

@JessieHealdUK This is the way. For some slightly added complexity, I use CD to deploy my static site. So I can write my thoughts on my phone, or computer. Push them to my repository and my site is updated about 3min later.

@JessieHealdUK I started with WordPress for a year and a bit and I hated it. Jumped ship to Hugo SSG and it has been such a joy creating using Hugo. I'm a huge fan of static sites. And hello, fellow Indiewebber!

@eclecticpassions awesome stuff!! I was so tempted to check out Hugo before I found 11ty. I'm glad you've had such a good experience. The SSG life is so good

.@JessieHealdUK I'm glad you are enjoying 11ty too. It was in my shortlist when deciding between SSGs... but JS *looks* more confusing to me compared to Go, so I went with Hugo! (Says someone who doesn't have any coding background
) SSG life for the win!

οΈ@eclecticpassions Honestly, good choice! Hugo was 2nd place for me, very close to 11ty, but I chose 11ty because I know JavaScript!
Both very solid choices indeed

@JessieHealdUK yep, and with headless cms tech like hugo you can do a lot like if you had a real cms.
