OK. I get how that isn't the outcome you have hoped for. Sorry to hear it.

Some people: "new Star Trek is bad"
Well, what's your objective measurement for that? How about people who report liking it?

Some people, apparently: "If you do these series of steps, this new series will get cancelled, because I don't like it."
What the hell is wrong with you?!

Do you have any examples to back up your claims about said people?

@desertsquare what do you mean? "if they even exist"? Yeah. For the first and second group you can just look at any place where fans gather. There will be a couple of either group there, too.

The last group is not really a group, yet, but I have this specimen right here to show: https://infosec.exchange/@littlealex/116045941245280082

Apparently that's one individual's opinion. It's hard to tell, I don't understand that language.

@desertsquare @claudius Of course it is an individual opinion, but it seems to be pretty common. Even parts of the main cast are expressing their disappointment with the show.
There are rumors the second season is already canceled, but I think this will not happen, because contracts are signed, studio space is rented etc. Likely they will try a redesign in Season 2 and have a look how this works. The descission for more seasons will be made after this, I presume. If it's not canceled it's not a proof Paramount has faith in the show, it's just risk management. Cancelation is likely more expensive than to shoot the season.

Anyways, Starfleet Academy is the definition of a shitshow. Lets hope it will not end the careers of the cast, because some of them are really good actors, especially Holly Hunter and Paul Giamatti.
