Complete spring clean of my study today so that I can replace the carpet on Monday. First time in 5 years that I went through my memories box.

(As the child of a hoarder, I allow myself one crate-sized hoard)

- I discovered my diary from 1994. After writing about what it was like living in South Africa just before the vote to end Apartheid, I was astonished at just how all-consuming and terrifying the looming election was (https://passiontounderstand.blogspot.com/2010/04/this-day-in-history-27-april-1994.html)

- I discovered my diary from 1998 and now know the date of the bank robbery that changed my life was 17 January 1998

- I found and discovered the digitised version of my wedding video. Most sad was my friend Steven wishing me luck for having a honeymoon baby, and his wife Bianca saying she was still waiting for hers. She took her own life 10 months later and I never had kids of my own (although I bought up two beautiful young men)
