The visit to the US of the UK’s head of state (leaving aside my wish for an end to the monarchy) is going to be news, of course. But the BBC (maybe others) seem to be presenting a) too much of the non-political facets of the visit (pomp, ceremony) and b) doing so in the manner of a film premiere or fashion gala.

@Thebratdragon Yes. But most of those things are endemic, and so not news, just how the world is. Clue’s in the name, innit. Gotta be new. /s

@Thebratdragon well, true, but the state visit is a thing that is happening now, so = news. (Also, there is some peril when interacting with the often-irrational US head of state, so there’s an element of being there in case a car-crash happens.)
