But the BBC (maybe others) seem to be presenting a) too much of the non-political facets of the visit (pomp, ceremony) and b) doing so in the manner of a film premiere or fashion gala.

(Also, there is some peril when interacting with the often-irrational US head of state, so there’s an element of being there in case a car-crash happens.)
