What will end Donald Trump's second term?
-
@halcy I left out military conquest!
Evan Prodromou (@evan@cosocial.ca)
I combined impeachment and 25th amendment because although they are quite different, in both cases someone else in government decides.

@jorge is it wishful thinking to wonder how it will end?
Do you think it will never end?
@evan He should never have come to power; he is proof of humanity's failure. I hope they get rid of him soon.
-
@evan I’d prefer revolution, but in reality I think death is more likely. Just not quickly enough.

@evan
Are we voting for what we think will happen or what we hope will happen? -
@evan He won't go gentle into that good night[.

@evan@cosocial.ca It's almost guaranteed he will be impeached by the house but impeachment basically means nothing now days. Senate isn't going to prosecute. He's probably going to serve out his full term and then be arrested, convicted, and sent to prison in 2029.

@Deadlift so, election?

Similarly with election or revolution; someone else *outside* of government decides
@evan wouldn't a third term for Trump also fall into "election or revolution"?

@radieschen yes, I think so!
-
@evan I voted for death, but that doesn’t mean the death will come before Jan 20, 2029. We could be well into his “third term” before we are rid of him.

@jasonnoffsinger then how would death end his second term?
-
@evan Other: "The Second Coming of Our Lord Jesus".
-
@jasonnoffsinger then how would death end his second term?
@evan Exactly. We need to be prepared for his second term to roll over into an unconstitutional “third term”.
Trump is now far too exposed to war crime and corruption charges to ever allow a peaceful transfer of power.
Look for the authoritarian power grabs to accelerate over next 2.5 years.

@burnoutqueen so #1 or #4
-
let's go with alien abduction.
-
@mkb right, but it's also a huge pain in the ass.
@evan
> I don't think he likes it that much.
> […] it's also a huge pain in the ass.Both of those were manifestly true throughout his first term. Yet here we are again.
If those were reason enough to convince him to walk away from it, I very much doubt he'd have squealed so much at leaving the first time, nor come back for a second round.
-
@evan I can't vote as I think there is a strong chance of Constitutional amendment and a third term.
I guess the “election” option fits that but I think you're implying the election won't include Trump.
