    For me, Tim Cook will always and forever be that fake design award he gave Trump.

    Not the supply chain optimization. Not Liquid Glass. The ass-kissing. It drowns out everything else.

    @inthehands

    Cook = a depraved, despicable fascist who must be held to account for his crimes and rot in jail for the rest of his failed life.

      @inthehands - but actually it was the product range development (quiet computers that require noisy storage supplements might as well not be quiet) and the constant software rot (media storage and management that became increasingly closed, continuously lost features, and inserted AI slop metadata to my photos) that drove me away from the platform even before that.

        @Sgns @inthehands Wow, no, bad take. It's not a "bad look," it's collaboration with an authoritarian. And it's a bribe. Just one of many, from one of many supplicant corporations. He wasn't trying hard and missing, he was contributing to the destruction of the rule of law.

        @spiegelmama Yes, it might have been that. I'm saying that on the whole, this is a human, and he's done good things too. And sometimes your sense of responsibility is what can make you susceptible to take risks to save what you care for. Think for a second of the million worse ways Apple might have collaborated. Did they? I'll be interested to find out. I'm not prepared to black or white this. I understand the temptation to "make him pay". But if you lose sense of the human, who's losing?

            @GOKUSHRM @inthehands

            What was purchased before has been paid for and whether or not you use it will not change anything.
            If Europeans need to change the equipment, buy non-Amerikkkan brands.

            However, you should no longer buy an app from the store.

            I had AirPods, iphone, and Watch (older than 7 years) that had battery problems. So I changed everything to European brands.
            When my iPad must be changed, I will do the same thing ( event if the orange guy is dead) .

              @inthehands not only cook, the whole brand. they cared about where and how to put that logo. until they put it on an ugly trophy to kneel in front of everything the brand* never stood for.

              *in case one believes in that “brand”/“value” stuff

                    Agreed, but it's not just the prize — it's what it signifies. It's an implicit admission that #Apple is willing to bend over for #Maga, and you won't necessarily get to hear about it.

                      When one's so shallow that they're willing to give an accolade to a cypher of a man, just for praise, the rest of one's ideas are much more likely to be likewise bereft of depth.

                      I'd say the 'award' is a perfectly reasonable microcosm of Cook's career.

                          @Pettet8 I agree, but there are unfortunately so many things that need one or the other of big tech. An example: In almost all aspects of society in Sweden, the bank association’s ID solution is mandatory to get anything done. That solution requires either Apple or Google infrastructure (and in addition a relationship with a major Swedish bank).

                            @Paul_stilgar @inthehands if we want to fight against apple or google or Microsoft, 1st we need to stop using them... I hate apple so I never bought anything from apple... I hate MS so I don't use computer or laptop.. Whenever I'll buy pc or laptop I'll use Linux directly. I hate Google so I'm using DeGoogled phone (asus). Some people asked me to use GrapheneOS, I told them I'll use it but with other brand, not with pixel. Without removing thm completely from life u can't say to anyone that..

                                      For me, Tim Cook will always and forever be that fake design award he gave Trump.

                                      Not the supply chain optimization. Not Liquid Glass. The ass-kissing. It drowns out everything else.

                                        @inthehands that fake award wasn't the supply chain optimization he thought it was...

                                          @Pettet8 That is also true with (most) Swedish banks if you only need to perform classic bank transactions. If you need to send money immediately to someone, though, like paying for something at a bake sale, you have to use BankID, and thus Apple or Google phones. And the bake sale won’t accept cash, and even if they do, they won’t have change.

                                          There are so many other things that are either impossible or artificially made much more complicated by not having it. You are expected to have BankID.
