@cmconseils If I could boost this a dozen or more times a day, I would.

I walk out of QR code menu resturants.

@cmconseils Nope. I like it. Can order when I’m ready. Don’t have to wait/signal waiter for when I finally get my bill and can leave at my own terms. And don’t get judged for what I order or don’t order. Find the conventional restaurant setting always a bit prisonesque - from the moment you sit down you are at their mercy. Not with the QR codes.

@cmconseils I’ll be the voice of dissent here but I don’t really see the problem.

          I just wish that:
          - An digital menu always showed the prices
          - restaurants with bad cell service would not have a QR code as a link but a QR code as the actual menu encrypted in the code
          - FUCKING TAX AND TIP WOULD BE INCLUDED in all the prices
          - No junk fees
          - again, I’m sorry, but fuck your tip. I’ll pay it. not from the bottom of my heart but because I know that you don’t make a living wage and we’re in this situation because it’s social construct.

@cmconseils True that. I don’t go out to eat place my own order either. Next thing they’ll want us to go back in the kitchen and do our own dishes.

Yes. Not just QR code menus.

I see QR codes displayed in "interactive" ads on my streaming services.

I am NOT going to interact with those ads. I especially am not going to get up off the couch, saunter across the room to grab my phone, and open my QR code app to "find out more" about their shitty products.

@mkoek @otte_homan @lydiaconwell @cmconseils wait a minute since most of them are static just take a picture of one and then wait for someone to sit there and then scan the code, join their menu, and put them into crippling debt. Funny pranks to do to your worst enemy.

🤔️ A QR code that takes one to an alternative, more honest copy of the menu, with identical aesthetic.

@NickSchwanck @cmconseils The problem with "voting with your dollars" as they call it is that it doesn't work when everyone does the bad things. You can refuse to go to one that does a bad thing, but then you'll just have to go to another that does...

It's been my experience that the vast majority of us simply walk around looking for ever-better choices to do their thinking for them. I can count on one hand how many people I've met who actually do their own thinking. Mostly they just regurgitate calibrated phrases put out by professional persuaders.

If I hear something like "Sleepy Joe" out of you, I write you off as an extension of someone else's mind and, sadly, someone who lopped off a big bit of their own humanity.

@angiebaby @cmconseils I'd even be content with some chalkboard on the sidewalk or some transparent sheet back-illuminated over the counter.

                                    Instead of #quishing!

@cmconseils I refuse to pay for a place that makes me use my phone and always ask for a hard copy of their menu.

@ElRelle @cmconseils I refuse to even enter such a place to begin with!

@Uair @paulehoffman it depends on the model & producer.

                                        My #deskjet6122 refuses to die.

Besides, a proper menu folder isn't expensive and prevents #quishing attacks!

@Uair @cmconseils As a human without a mobile phone, I am starting to run into this... I walked away from an airport restaurant because they only had the QR thingy.

"I don't have a mobile, can you give me a real menu?"

They look at me like I'm an alien and shrug. "Nope". (I'm sure they had them, they were just being lazy.)

So I went to a different massively-overpriced restaurant!

@asmaloney @Uair @cmconseils If a restaurant can't be assed to put their menu on a shitty screen, chalkboard or elsewhere signposted then they certainly ain't worth the money they ask for.

All this #QRcode bullshit does is allow #pricing #discrimination and #Quishing
