New, by me: Health wearable giant Oura says it has received government demands for users' information (because Oura does not use end-to-end encryption).

Will Oura say how often it gets demands for user data, and how often Oura hands over users' data to authorities?

@zackwhittaker This is exactly why I keep my app data strictly on-device or in user-owned iCloud containers. If you store unencrypted health data on your own servers, you're essentially volunteering to process government subpoenas. It's a massive liability.

@zackwhittaker I never got a Oura because I was hella broke, but recently they got picked as one of the "everyone should use these wearables" by the RFK Jr. #MAHA folks. That was enough to reject them as a whole.

@zackwhittaker Welp this one article is all I need to know if never get a wearable health tech device. The user does know upfront that their personal data is sent to this company. So knowing about the deals with the gov and Palantir just makes it obvious to me that the data is being collected and can be accessed. 5 million users should already have known they are providing Big Data.
