"Why can't you just be an effeminate gay man?" is not a question anyone would ask a cis woman so I don't know why trans women have to endure hearing it.

"Why can't you just be an effeminate gay man?"
[rolls eyes] This is literally some generic moderate bullshit pretending it isn't actually just compromising with the nazi concentration camps. "Hey, don't be trans, be this slightly less marginalized group, ok? That way the nazis won't go after you until after the trans girls are dead! Win-win, right?"@Kalshann To me, it often comes across as: "Why can't you make yourself more attractive to me?" And I don't remember asking their opinion.

Gods, that's so much worse too. Fucking humans. -

Gods, that's so much worse too. Fucking humans.@Kalshann The question is intrinsic to the "transitioning is gay genocide" assholes like Ben Appel.
I've also heard it and variations thereof ("I was a tomboy so if I was a young person today, they would try to make me transition!") from cis women but that's mostly generic transphobia.

@Kalshann I'm sure cis lesbians do a similar routine to trans men.
But it always has that slightly rapey Christian vibe of, "I consent! I consent! But didn't you forget someone?

@gwynnion My mom asked me that when I came out to her.

@gwynnion@mastodon.social because they don't see you as Real Women
and are telling on themselves -

@gwynnion Part of the problem is that I'm gay... just not gay that way.

@faithisleaping You can see their poor little brains overheating trying to comprehend this very basic idea as you're telling them, too.

@gwynnion Yeah... Someone they think looks like a man saying "I'm gay for girls" or "I'm into guys, but in a straight way" makes no sense to them.

@gwynnion Funny thing is that wasn't an option either until after coming out for literally every trans woman I know. It was "stop being a pussy and man up! What are you gay?" sometimes hours earlier.
