    NVDA's Speech Dictoaries let you replace NVDA reading one thing, with another: https://www.nvaccess.org/post/in-process-16th-april-2021/#Dictionaries

    Press NVDA+n, p, d, enter to open the default speech dictionary.

    Do you use any speech dictionary entries? I've swapped "Meeting" for "Nap" in the attached screenshot (Apologies to the boss for missing that meeting btw, I had, uh, car trouble.... completely unrelated!)

    What do you use speech dictionaries to correct?

      @NVAccess There's a typo in dictionaries.
      I have a couple of global entries. Komplete and Kontrol for Native Instruments products, then Coronavirus because of 2020. I've also set up some voice specific ones for different synthesisers.

        @NVAccess I have never found a use for the temporary dictionary.

          @NVAccess One of my prior students changed the pronunciation of the word Trump to fart in one of the lab computers. Absolutely immature and inappropriate... Who am I kidding, I laughed for weeks after I found out.

            @NVAccess LOL I did something really stupid. I clicked on the in process, went to the Microsoft survey. It said April 16. It said 2021. I took like 5 minutes wondering why the poll isn't active when it's been posted about today. ;(

            Also dictionaries are indeed great. I know someone whose control types now have their own human names hahaha.

              @NVAccess Hey, just to let you know, I'm using the latest build of NVDA 2026.1, the program known as Jarte isn't being seen by the screen reader and, I'm running the SR as a portable copy.

                @NVAccess eSpeak mangles my mom's name, Leah, making it sound like Lee, so I changed it to pronounce it correctly, the same as Lia.

                  @RareBird15 @NVAccess Is that what you mainly use or is it Eloquence?

                    @mckensie @NVAccess Right now I mainly use eSpeak, though I did like Eloquence so might see if I can find the add-on for that. I use the English US variant, Klatt 6 voice.
