Y’all, I want to talk about beans.@random_regret @MissConstrue Disney needs to go. They've been farming Mickey for like a century.

Just a thought: How about we stop shaming the poor for buying things that may not be essential, and start shaming the rich for making a profit off things that are essential?@Strandjunker how about we start shaming the government for being completely usess every time
-
Y’all, I want to talk about beans.@MissConstrue Copyrights aren't even a part of the market. That's literally the government. Crazy how capitalism just takes the blame for anything and everything

Privacy is a human right.@trogluur not respected is kind of an understatement. It's basically non existent in practice. It's written by the same governments who trade citizens' data with these surveillance alliances.
-
Privacy is a human right.@GOKUSHRM @Tutanota yeah, that was referring to legislation that forbids a company from collecting certain kinds of data. You should be able to choose which company, even if they collect certain information. Probably needed clarification. The only thing you should have by default is NO government surveillance.
-
Privacy is a human right.@GOKUSHRM @Tutanota Yo I literally said that. By default no government should be surveilling on you but you should be able to choose to use apps that don't. If an app like Instagram or Twitter collects your data, you can choose to go somewhere else. Don't know why this is so hard to understand. And having this choice is not really a human right to privacy. It's just personal agency.

Privacy is a human right. In a way, yes. By being here on mastodon

Privacy is a human right.@trogluur That doesen't mean squat when every government will always be incentivized to ignore it. It's in name only. You can't actually have a right to privacy. It's impossible. What I said earlier is the best and most logical thing you can get.
-
Privacy is a human right. Not necessarily
Is privacy important? Yes
Should you be guaranteed privacy by default? No
Should the government be allowed to surveil you for any reason? No
Should companies be forced to abide by certain privacy laws? NoSo the default should be neutral and you can choose what you want.
