I wasn't even a trans kid. I didn't realize I was anything other than a cishet man until 2020, in my late 30s. But that's exactly why I want people to have the resources and vocabulary to figure this stuff out before you're middle-aged. I feel like half my life has been a waste.

It's really frustrating how many people, even supposed allies, even some trans people, seem willing to abandon trans kids. There's a pervasive attitude of "you're a losing cause, sorry, it sucks, but we'll be here for you when you hit 18"

Just look at how much a lot of "progressives" struggle to respond to the invasion of Venezuela and abduction of Maduro. They don't want to express support for Trump, but they're clearly happy with the result. The most honest was Dem influencer/propagandist Olivia Juliana, who said the only problem was Dems hadn't done it first. Or AOC, who criticized Trump for leaving Maduro's party in power

They're still trying to thread that needle of "neither Washington nor Tehran", and it's never going to work! You will always choose Washington in the end, whether you realize or admit it!

The antiwar movement of the aughts struggled to respond coherently to "but isn't the world better without Saddam?!" concern trolling, and they're not doing any better with equivalent questions now because they still fundamentally support America

The assumption seems to be "Mamdani conned the con artist and got what he wanted with no concessions because he's just so fucking smooth", which is just magical thinking

I suspect he's just not being transparent about what deals with the devil he's making, which should be a scandal

And honestly I suspect Mamdani's meeting with Trump has something to do with why he isn't taking action to protect trans kids. Do people really think no assurances were made to keep the admin on board?

It's often the case that when "progressive" hero politicians do bad things, their supporters were curiously and conveniently looking away and didn't notice. And when you try to bring it up, their brains just won't process it, it goes in one ear and out the other. They go mysteriously quiet and wait for the subject to change

Like how a lot of people are only just now realizing that Bernie Sanders is a right-wing populist on immigration (which I think they might've already reforgotten)

I wouldn't be criticizing Mamdani on this if he simply said "we're looking at options and can't discuss it publicly yet". But he hasn't said anything, which suggests the plan is to do nothing. And perversely, because of that it's easy for his apologists to change the subject
