Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 879 , Wednesday 25/03/2026

Wednesday started around 07:15. The usual start to the day making breakfast for the two of us & then chores.

The weather was rubbish this morning, cold, windy & snowy!

We drove across to my late MiL’s house, I fitted a new toilet seat, the old one was removed when the house was converted to help my MiL when she got ill.

We also started on the loft, a job & a half!

We worked thru till lunch then called it a day & stopped off for a bite of lunch at a pub we know.

Got home in time for coffee & a piece of birthday cake!

We continued our Jurassic Park fest with Fallen Kingdom & then Dominion.

Final Thoughts.

A busy day but we did get a lot done at my MiLs. There does seem to be endless stuff there though!

My Mum passed on this day in 2019, just before the pandemic, which was a blessing she would not have fared well under full lockdown I suspect.
I miss her every day but most of all on this day.

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 878 , Tuesday 24/03/2026

Tuesday started slightly later than Monday but not by much, I was up & downstairs making breakfast before 07:30.

I had hoped that there might be lie ins given Mrs S is on her hollibobs but no such luck!

Did my chores & worked on reorganising my desk, I think I have it cracked!

Lunch, in the shape of a black pudding scotch egg, courtesy of Chatsworth’s farm shop was followed by an expedition out to Costco, partially for shopping & partially to get a couple of new tyres. Mrs S had booked us in for a 2pm tyre change which essentially gutted the afternoon.

I’ve done something to my back & right leg, both of which were objecting to wandering around the store!

Got back just after 4pm, unloaded & then we watched Jurassic World - the 4th in the JP fest & one of my faves.

We had a naughty takeaway for tea, Mrs S had her usual scampi & chips and I tried something new - Peri peri chicken (the garlic & herb one) with chips. I quite enjoyed it although it was a little spicier than I normally like my chicken. I might try it with rice next time. I do think I prefer it to fried chicken.

Also booked tickets to go see Project Hail Mary at the IMAX next week!

We had a really windy & rainy late afternoon / evening despite there being no storm warning or indeed any weather warning at all.

Final Thoughts.

There were definitely signs that my brain was not overly happy with me while I was in Costco, mostly a little dizziness & the feeling that I needed to ‘pop’ my ears. Hey ho, I made it home in one piece!

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 871 , Tuesday 17/03/2026

Monday started at around 7am but it took me ages to actually get up, I finally made it downstairs at about 07:15.

Breakfast was committed & then the daily chores.

I was going to have a sofa surfing day today to rest my back but the new clothes rail for my wardrobe rocked up so I had to fit that & then I spent just under an hour in the box room. Have got to the sanding phase, so I just did a few easy bits that didn’t create too much dust, discovering some extra bits that I had missed when I was repairing the cracks & holes in the walls.

It’s been a really sunny day so I made use of the free power from the solar panels & put the dishwasher on a self clean cycle.

I finally settled down around 2pm when I decided to watch the first Jack Reacher movie. I don’t remember seeing it before & did enjoy it in a turn your brain off & go with the flow kind of a way.

Also managed an hour or so running around medieval Bohemia before Mrs S got home.

Final Thoughts.

Not surprisingly my back is not happy with me this evening so I will have to make a more concerted effort to rest tomorrow!

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 870 , Monday 16/03/2026

Monday started just after 7am.

Breakfast & the daily chores followed then I finally got around to servicing our coffee machine, I had planned to do this annually but completely missed doing it last year so it was pretty grotty this time around. Also I discovered how to properly access the dispenser compartment which has not been properly deep cleaned … ever. Heck there was some grot in there!

Finished the day with a couple of ‘All Creatures Great & Small’ (the original series)

Final Thoughts.

Quite pleased with myself, I’ve been thinking of doing the coffee machine for weeks & finally managed to get the thing done!

However my spine has not liked standing up for long periods of time since I did my Achilles several years back - I think it was wandering around with a limp for just shy of 2 years that threw my spine out. So now it will give me grief for a couple of days! Life used to be a lot less ouchy!

Sunday started around 07:45.

Breakfast & a few chores were followed by a very lazy day.

We watched the next couple of movies in the Jack Ryan series … ‘Patriot Games’ & ‘Clear and Present Danger’. Ah the halcyon days when the US of Trumpton was a vaguely decent county.

Cheat stew & chips for tea, very nice even if I do say so myself!

Final Thoughts.

Not a bad day, I have a week of mostly peace ahead & then Mrs S is off on a couple of weeks of hols.

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 868 , Saturday 14/03/2026

Saturday started at around 07:30 the alarm waking me for the first time in I don’t know how long!

I made breakfast for the two of us & then, once Mrs S had pootled off to do the shopping did my chores, which on a Saturday now includes hoovering the house & cleaning the floors in the bathroom & the w/c.

I also did a bit more work in the box room, the prep work is nearly done, I need to sand the walls &
Wash them with sugar soap & then decide wether I get a professional in to do the paint work & hang the wallpaper or do it myself.
It shouldn’t be a hard decision, I have the decorating skills of a tape worm so it shouldn’t be a no brainer! However I have been brought up to believe that one should be able to decorate ones own home & it chafes something terrible to consider paying someone to do it for me!

We shall see how I feel after I have completed all the prep work!

We spent the afternoon catching up on a couple of things that Mrs S wanted to watch then wee ended the day with a Chinese takeaway (Kung Po duck for me) while we watched ‘The Hunt for Red October’ The very obvious ‘blue screen’ scene at the end has not been improved when they digitised the movie!

Final Thoughts.

I wonder why they call it digitising it … surely it should be binarising it? Ah the tangents an ND mind wanders off on!

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 866 , Thursday 12/03/2026

Thursday started around 07:15, I managed to get a decent nights sleep by the simple trick of putting ear plugs in!

It’s been a wet & windy day, punctuated by numerous short but annoying power cuts!

In the face of this I decided to tackle the mutant paperwork pile on my desk - progress has been made but there is still a way to go!

We had a fried chicken takeaway for tea - it has to be said that I think I am going off them, it was ok but I didn’t especially enjoy it.

Final Thoughts.

I’ve moved back to using my Logitech K780 keyboard with my iPad, the Apple Magic Keyboard I was using having gone back into service with the Mac Mini. I had forgotten what a nice keyboard this is!

Given the dreary state of the weather I am quite pleased with what I managed to get done today!

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 863 , Monday 09/03/2026

Monday started just after 7am & I was welcomed with a grey & dull morning.

Breakfast was followed by chores which I had to make sure were completed by 10:50 for a meds review by some pharmacist.
The pharmacist was running on NHS time so he actually rang at around 11:15!

The review went fine although he wasn’t happy with my somewhat sedentary lifestyle & my current diet, which is fine because neither am I!

Finished chatting with him just before midday so had a bit of an early lunch - a hotdog, but only because they need using up.

Played some KCD2for a while then decided to get some more done in the box room. Finished filling one of the bigger chunks before calling it a day.

Then for no good reason I decided another desk move was called for, this time the desk is back under the window but critically I have done something I have avoided for 20 odd years or more & flipped the desk top so it is now a right handed “L” rather than a left handed one.
This seemingly small change meant utterly dismantling the desk but it has meant that I can more easily access the window ledge & it does make the room look bigger. It also means that free access to the wardrobe has been restored & there is no longer a need to squeeze past the chair.

Due to having to stop when Mrs S got home I still have to put all the electronics back together tomorrow.

Final Thoughts.

A rather more productive day than I first expected, although once I have sorted my mac out tomorrow I will need a sofa surfing day to recover, my spine is already unhappy with me!

Wednesday started at just after 7am, I had wanted to have a lie in but my body decided that it wanted to get up so up we got!

It been another lovely sunny early Spring day.

Chores were followed by an hour or so working in the box room.

Also got more books put away in new homes so that is getting closer to completion!

Final Thoughts.

I often wonder what life would have been life had I stayed a singleton.

Ah well back to the treadmill.

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 856 , Monday 02/03/2026

Monday started at around 07:30.

Mrs S was off to the off to the office so I had the house to myself!

It’s been a reasonably quiet day, the sun showed its face around lunchtime so after lunch I had another hour doing decorating prep work in the box room.

Spent the rest of the afternoon chasing baddies around medieval Bohemia.

Final Thoughts.

I’ve discovered that topping my Costco choc chip cookies with a spoonful of vanilla ice cream is a lovely way to enjoy them! Sadly my waistline will not agree!

In other news Sophie mog has now got a new item in her daily schedule, she will come & sit on the arm of my chair with me for an hour or so in the early afternoon, just prior to her main afternoon nap & allow me to stroke between her ears - her 2nd most favourite thing after being brushed.
This is an agreeable arrangement for both of us.

Up just after 7am.

It’s been a mixed day, I did my chores and also cleaned the extractor fan in the bathroom - I cannot believe that it is over 6 months since I last did it - the time has just flown by!

I also did some more work in the box room, it’s not a big room but it seems to be taking forever to decorate!

Got a bit further with the book reorganisation in my room.

Had pizza for tea which ordinarily would have been a good thing but things happened that, for me at least, cast a pawl over the rest of the evening.

Final Thoughts.

Some days I realise that I am in a situation that I cannot escape & that realisation draws the black dog closer!

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 851 , Wednesday 25/02/2026

Wednesday started at around 7am.

Breakfast was soon followed by chores & then, as it was a nice sunny day I managed to get some suff done.

Moved the Virgin Media modem downstairs out of the box room. A job which was complicated by the fact I had to move the big bookcase we have in the corner of the lounge.
Always a fun job - its about 7 foot tall & one has to take all the books out & empty the cupboard at the bottom to move the sucker!

Still all sorted in the end & everything was back up & working within a couple of hours.

Also did a bit more prep work in the box room while I was in there.

Made some definite progress with my bookshelf re-org too which was good!

The new ear cushions for my SteelSeries headphones came this afternoon, soon fitted & they are just as comfy as the originals if very slightly bigger.

Finished the afternoon with a couple of hours in medieval Bohemia

Final Thoughts.

Not a bad day at all, my brain was still a bit all over the place though. I seem to be significantly more clumsy at the moment!
