@theleftistlawyer Those downstream effects are the purpose of our immigration policy. The goal isn't to stop illegal immigration, or we would punish businesses that hire undocumented immigrants. The goal is to deny immigrants legal recourse so they can be exploited more easily. This has been the primary function of our immigration system for decades; Trump is just pushing it further.
