But as an Irish person, watching the chaos in the UK has a certain therapeutic effect given our shared history

And there was also a significant increase in the number of Irish passports issued when Brexit kicked in, so that’s unlikely to be a good sign of how Brexit is doing (https://www.irishlegal.com/articles/record-surge-in-irish-passport-applications-from-british-citizens-since-brexit).
