A radical politico-economic worldview that enriches the already rich at the expense of the many while destroying the planet was able to take over academia, government and private industry until it became regarded as “just common sense” or “just economics 101”.Labor and Liberal/Nats, and their corporate donors are all so beholden to the same economic framework to the point they can’t really believe people actually don’t implicitly accept it, and suggesting the construct is not the only possible economic system that is completely natural and obvious makes them look at you as if you’re an anti-vaxxer.Right wing populists pretend to have an alternative and people flock to them looking for anything different, but they tend to only make the problem worse - either because they are just corrupt and incompetent, and/or (like with both Trump and One Nation) because they are also just funded by the mega-rich who are 100% neoliberal anyway - so people like Rinehart going with the far-right can get the neoliberalism they want with a side of much more corruption to benefit from.
