It’s really impressed the number of people and organisations that are repeatedly and consistently wrong keep getting their views repeated as if they’re infallible geniuses.@david_chisnall I think the key is to keep the timescale for your predictions marginally longer than each wave of hype. By the time you've been proved wrong the world has already moved on to the next "big thing" and nobody cares about your previous prediction.

This article follows a similar path to LLM prose: starts off salient before digressing into nonsense. This article follows a similar path to LLM prose: starts off salient before digressing into nonsense. Funny how the writer, who just happens to run an AI training consultancy, ends up concluding that AI is inevitable and everyone needs to urgently get with the programme and be trained to use it. #ai #guardian #advertorial #llm #claude #openai #anthropic

Think I’ve figured out the strategy.Think I’ve figured out the strategy. Trump attacks Iran -> oil prices shoot up -> energy prices shoot up in response -> AI firms burn through capital even faster and go bankrupt -> Trump gets his revenge on Anthropic.
I really wouldn’t put it past him to start world war three just because a business annoyed him.

I need to have a little lie down after reading about Taalas, the startup that claims to offer a 1000x speed up in LLM inferencing by building dedicated ASICs per model.I need to have a little lie down after reading about Taalas, the startup that claims to offer a 1000x speed up in LLM inferencing by building dedicated ASICs per model. Well done lads, you’ve invented what? A LUT? A Rom? They claim to be able to churn new models out in two months but their first prototype runs a two year old Llama model badly quantised down to 3 bits. I’m about 90% certain there will be a Theranos outcome for this company.
