I really love having snippets of code in musl that are perfectly valid and well-defined because of contractual constraints that analyzers can't see. -

some people have very raw, but very concrete feelings about brutalism.@sandriver It’s not a black and white issue, there are many shades of gray in it.

Hey Claude, write me a new kernel from scratch that implements the linux syscalls.I suspect this is impossible given current token limits. I’d have to break it up into many subtasks and have it do each of those individually. That sounds like a lot of work.

The fact that disabling iCloud Photos (and deleting the photos) on iOS devices makes Photos storage balloon up by several gigabytes before it clears is mind boggling to me.Let’s not talk about the fact that iCloud Photos is terrible at caching. Why does it need to take 7 gigs on my device for pictures I never look at? You can generate thumbnails and dump photos I haven’t looked at in years instead of permanently wasting space on all of my devices.

How can it possibly be implemented this badly? Why does deleting photos take so long? What does it do if it doesn’t have enough space to delete photos?

Keith Rabois argues the traditional PM role is dying due to AI.@carnage4life In my experience the role of a PM has often been to sit in meetings and manage communication and schedules so that engineers can focus on development. Have meetings and status reports been eliminated?

I complain about lack of engagement on mastodon, but then I look at the engagement on a post like this and it is such garbage that maybe we’re better off not having it.RE: https://ec.social-network.europa.eu/@EUCommission/116375194345663426

(The real answer is some kind of quality ranking and filtering of posts, but ~algorithms~)

The Drobo RAID setup has never been matched in any product I’m aware of.The Drobo RAID setup has never been matched in any product I’m aware of. It allowed mixing disks of any size. Dynamically replace a disk with larger one and it would rebuild its array to balance the blocks, maintain integrity levels, and use the larger available total size. It was a great consumer-friendly storage product and it’s a shame we can’t have that in any other NAS.

“I have a feeling that everyone likes using AI tools to try doing someone else’s profession.@kottke I like using them to do the tedious parts of my job. I don’t need to do other people’s jobs, I have enough problems.

wait but@never_released Lmao at all of this. A system designed to maximize billing. 96% success rate means you’ll always need the ability to bring a person on site.

The best move Anthropic could make now is to rapidly pivot Claude Code to open source and start accepting patches.@alexr And be flooded with AI slop PRs? They’d be swamped.
