i have to say there s a noticable performance difference between Storage Box and a real Volume, not surprising, -
as Storage Boxes are hardly meant for dynamic data -
but is still need to find out whether that annoys me enough to justify paying 5 times the price ...

just a follow up - thanks to your inspiration, i m now testing a combination of running

a small Hetzner VPS as nextcloud front, with a Storage Box as data store.
1 TB at 4 Euro, not bad.

(i had a Storage Volume before, but thats EUR 22 for half of it, 500GB)

I did not know that Hetzners Storage Share in fact = Nextcloud.
EUR 4.29 for 1 TB is fair enough.
I would consider that.

which makes a lot of sense _ not everything has to be shiny cloud, all the time.
with the low prices of large USB drives etc - sometimes local backup is just enough.

i do photos, videos and such with a local self-hosted nextcloud - am super happy with that
