What part of writing do I enjoy most?

There are so many parts of the process that I genuinely enjoy — building the world, imagining future technology, and developing each character and their background.

But if I had to choose one, it would be the character interactions.

That moment when a scene suddenly clicks is incredibly rewarding. When the dialogue flows naturally and the characters start reacting to each other in ways that feel real, it almost feels like I’m watching the story unfold rather than writing it.

Those are the moments that make all the planning and effort worth it.

if you write or read, what part do you enjoy the most?

One question I’ve been getting lately is about what the characters in Beneath Still Stars actually look like.

It’s an interesting question, because the answer is a bit intentional. I’ve chosen not to describe most of the characters in too much physical detail.

I’ve always liked the idea that readers can build their own version of a character in their imagination. The way someone looks in your mind can make the story feel more personal, more connected to you.

That said, there are a few small details. Marcus, was born and raised in England. Holland has a mixed Canadian, and First Nations background, which carries through slightly to Tessa. Serenai is described as slim with purple eyes, something common among the Orani.

For me, the most important part of a character isn’t what they look like—it’s how they think, how they act, and how they respond when things go wrong.

I’m curious—when you read a book, do you prefer detailed descriptions, or do you like to imagine characters in your own way?

The Lewin Over Ink Publishing website is now live.

It’s a small home for my writing projects, including my science fiction novel Beneath Still Stars and my futurism blog In 100 Years, where I explore realistic possibilities for life a century from now.

The site will continue growing as new articles and ideas are added.

If you’re interested in science fiction or thoughtful speculation about the future, you’re welcome to take a look.
