@tml @partim @julian_b It's definitely not an Apple TV of AV receivers and it's possibly a smaller step than you meant, but there are a few boxes nowadays that aren't just all possible inputs and outputs with a UX requiring an engineering degree

@tml @partim @julian_b You're right about the AV receiver design stagnation, the designs have stayed the same for ages. I spotted Marantz Model M1 as a bit cleaner design when comparing.

Getting rid of some of input and outputs helps making the device smaller, and I'd argue that switching HDMI inputs within the TV is now a valid option. HDMI ARC (audio return channel) means that the receiver can have a single HDMI port, to which the TV pipes the multi-channel streams from its other inputs.

@julian_b @partim I bought a Marantz integrated amp recently and it's ok. It also has Denon/Marantz streaming stack called HEOS, which should support Qobuz through firmware updates: https://community.qobuz.com/press-en/heos-app-now-supports-native-qobuz-streaming

It's closed and proprietary, though, but a ready-made and integrated solution has its good sides, too. Even volume control from phone works.

Don't know how the Denons compare to Wiim Amp. The cheapest Denon branded units cost around 450 € so these are quite similarly priced.

Olen pitkäaikaisena nettikäyttäjänä tunnistanut jo työpöydän ääressä multipaskaamisen ongelmat ajankäytölle ja kognitiolle. Ehkä siksi en ole kokenut älypuhelimen kautta mitään uusia ongelmia, sillä poikkeuksella että niille tulleet pohjattomat lyhytvideosovellukset on aivan pakko pitää poissa laitteelta. Tylsä elämä auttaa myös siinä, ettei ilmoituksia tule ihan niin paljoa.
