@Centretowner @kevinbowrin As a crown corporation, Canada Post is meant to break even. I guess Carney is pulling their entire safety net away and they’re going to have to come up with $2 BILLION in revenue (or service cuts). Wild. #cdnPoli

Today's XKCD is one of the ones where I am not sure if I'm in on the joke or just being duped into thinking I am ...@johannab If I toggle between B&W mode and colour on my screen, I can see the difference. Not at first glance though!

“The NDP says its membership has increased to approximately 100,000 people, up from 60,000 in September 2025, when the leadership race began.”The Liberal Party, who have a free membership option, signed up 400,000 people during their leadership race a year ago.
For the NDP to have 100,000 paid members isn't too shabby by comparison.

The new leader must be able to motivate these new members and allow for new, different ways of organizing between elections. One of the most demotivating things new members can hear is “that’s not how we do things.”

This Friday, One Million Neighbours #WatReg is hosting our monthly drop-in meeting in Cambridge.@johannab Activitypub events! I’m still not totally clear how it interacts with mastodon but it creates an account for the event itself, maybe if you mention the event on Mastodon it gets added as a comment on the event page?
It looks pretty simple to spin up an instance of one’s own so I may want to do that

We're testing a federated event platform called Gath.io (@91ET8dCs1JthrXFWxg6ry). the process was pretty simple to set up! I appreciate the Calendar and Maps integration, and the fact that guests don't have to sign up to RSVP.
Also, if you're in KW and need a ride to Cambridge, let me know
