Part of the absurdity is the idea that they can just take out one or two people and the government is somehow gone... But #Iran is not Russia or North Korea, where the government revolves around a single dictator, this is a whole structure with thousands of people involved in keeping it going, with a significant chunk of the population, even if they're a minority, willing to pick up weapons to support it. Reforming them diplomatically, by stopping the constant aggression, was always the best option. Replacing them by escalating the decades-long violence against them is not likely to work, certainly not overnight.

Something I do on my other account, you can set it up so filters just add a CW type thing, and you can still click them and look. It will just show a thing instead of the post, "1 posts filtered for 'politics'." or whatever you have set up, and you can click to reveal anyway. It's especially nice when you just want to have some warning before you see something.

Where do you draw the line on what needs a CW?

As a moderator, I have always felt it should be something serious and upsetting before I press for it, but my view on that may be evolving. We could be looking into ways to enforce stuff like that.

Is it any politics whatsoever, or does it have to be a specific level of upsetting? Like, your line probably falls somewhere between reminders to vote and full-on violence.

Have you tried using Filters to Auto-CW or hide things from your timeline? My other account has "Politics", "Trump", "USPol", "Activism", "MutualAid", and "Violence" all filtered, so I don't have to think about heavy stuff when I'm just looking at furry memes. Where does that feature fail you?

As I said, this is a growing concern on both sides, so I'm interested in learning so we can get closer to something that works well for everyone.
