It'll be (a) a cool project, (b) a nice way to re-use the old Kindle, (c) a means to get a TRMNL without spending. TRMNL matches ideas that I've had about interesting ways to use e-ink displays from when they were first introduced.
Of course, I'll eventually BYOS too. Oh, waitaminit. I should set up the BYOS part first.
