CIRCLE WITH A DOT

When I had Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat apps alongside Mastodon and Bluesky a year ago. I kept going back to big tech socials. I deleted the decentralised ones. It didn't work out. But when I fully made the decision to remove them completely and deleted accounts. I had no where to go but to Mastodon. It made it make sense now and I'm happier with this decision.

@johnefrancis I do that with logging in Mastodon and Pixelfed, I use duckduckgo browser.

I have asked a Pixelfed instance to join; I am still waiting, as they mentioned they need about 24 to 48 hours to make a decision. I have waited that long, and there's been no response. Should I wait or look for another server?

@serigala_tropis sounds cool. I've read about it just now on F-Droid.

I'll use that sometime soon, as for now I use DDG browser to get into Mastodon on my phone and PC, for privacy concerns as an LGBT person in a country where it is dangerous to be one.

One of the advantages of having been away from algorithmic platforms for the past three months is that I no longer have this monthly urge to buy online. I used to itch to get items because they kept popping up, and unconsciously I usually felt I should get them because they are important. Plenty of those items are now shelved and stored without active usage. I even donated some of them to relatives.

I'm in babysteps to use open-source and decentralised platforms, programs and all. I just started with escaping big tech social media and abandoning Google. I wanna have Linux and other open-source stuff on all my devices but still I didn't get there. I need some learning still and experiment.

I do realise now that the algorithmic manipulation, tracking and profiling the big tech is doing will harm the LGBT community even more. Specially the international community of different countries where it is still dangerous. If info and leaks happen the queer community is even more harmed with what challenges they already have.
