It’s a professional choir, so they pick up sounds impressively fast! There’s a lot of text to go through though. They’re going to perform Eino-Juhani Rautavaara’s Vigilia. I love this piece! If you have an hour to listen to it, it won’t be a wasted hour.

If there is a way to share a particular moment in a youtube video, instead of linking to the start of the video, I don't know it.@krparadis Ah, I just copypasted the link. Good to know!

But anyway, at about 1:10:30 here you can hear our choir singing some Gesualdo (a rather mild one mind you) at the service this morning, and have a look at one of the pretty windows in the Dom church. The volunteer who does the video took advantage of the fact that we sang around the baptismal font instead of where we usually stand. (I'm one of the people hidden by the chandelier)

In "she saw him", it's clear there are two third persons because they're of different genders.@johncarlosbaez "He" and "her" are the same word, "hän", mostly used in written Finnish. So to be completely clear you have to use the persons name, or say "the woman" or "the man" or something like that anyway.
I thought of an example, imagine I was telling you about something I saw in the park. That might go something like this: "This morning in the park I saw this woman with a dog, and it, the woman, bought an icecream. Then it gave it to the dog to lick, but it ate the whole thing!
So as the story goes on I would use "it" more often because it's already clear who is doing what.

Have you practiced your scales yet today??@Violinknitter I didn’t practise scales, but I did sing fifths up and down my whole range, and play through the second half of the st Matthew’s passion. I’ll just have to hope that Carl Flesch would find that sufficient.

Waiting for a package, which means I can’t go practise yet.Waiting for a package, which means I can’t go practise yet. Decided to oil a couple baroque flutes while I’m waiting. And a recorder while I was at it. I use extra virgin olive oil, because it’s something we always have in the kitchen. Used to use almond or linseed oil but those always got rancid before I got through a small bottle.
Nice quiet chore on a nice quiet Saturday afternoon. I can very softly hear a neighbour playing guitar.

New rule for myself: from now on the bassoon wing swab and the bocal swab will never, ever, ever be left next to each other on the table.New rule for myself: from now on the bassoon wing swab and the bocal swab will never, ever, ever be left next to each other on the table. Luckily I realized quickly that I was trying to pull something much too thick through the bocal. Stopped just in time to get it out without damaging anything.

Choir director let us know that the program for our next concert is too long and we wouldn’t sing the Magnificat by Roxanne Panufnik.Choir director let us know that the program for our next concert is too long and we wouldn’t sing the Magnificat by Roxanne Panufnik. To be honest I’m a bit relieved -it was I think the hardest piece on the program. A lovely one though.
