At the time, EY kindly covered the full cost of my participation, including both travel and accommodation.

I look back on it fondly a valuable experience that I still remember fondly to this day.

  • Over the past few weeks, I've been trying to get in touch with various enterprise networking vendors, including Cisco, Juniper Networks Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise, Dell Technologies NETGEAR, Ubiquiti Inc., and LANCOM Systems GmbH.

Update on my post/rant about enterprise network manufacturers. Instead of continuing to try to rent enterprise solutions, I decided to spend about $1k on hardware from D-Link, GL.iNet, LogiLink, MikroTik, PC ENGINES GMBH, and TP-Link Systems Inc..

The benefits for me so far:

    1. Ownership of open-source hardware, I own the devices myself instead of just renting them this gives me maximum control.

    2. Excellent support, kudos to the manufacturers, forums, and the (F)OSS community who have helped me with my questions.

    3. Research & knowledge sharing, I plan to share my research results with these manufacturers, not with the enterprise providers from my previous post.

It’s exciting to see how much support and innovation is happening outside of the major enterprise manufacturers. #cybersecurity #otsecurity #ics #ot

Over the past few weeks, I've been trying to get in touch with various enterprise networking vendors, including Cisco, Juniper Networks Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise, Dell Technologies NETGEAR, Ubiquiti Inc., and LANCOM Systems GmbH.

Specifically, I was looking for temporary network hardware for research purposes, naturally for a rental fee.

My goal was to actively contribute by sharing research results and offering concrete suggestions in the area of network security. Fair and professional collaboration was always my priority, not taking advantage of free services.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to establish a constructive dialogue in this instance.

Therefore, I've decided to support two (maybe three) awesome open-source projects instead, donating €500 to each. I'm convinced that open collaboration and transparent development are crucial drivers of innovation and security.

  • In my free time over the coming weeks and months, I’ll be working on a new version of my pentest dropboxes for IT and OT, and I’ll be turning the projects “Lemon” and “Motion”, which are still on paper, into reality.

New level of preparation work unlocked, tfpt all of the things, each device requires a different IP address, naming conventions, turn-on and reset procedure.

    It's "exciting" and educational. 🥳

Update. When all the parts for the projects are finally complete. It was expensive and delivery times were longer than expected, even for an order within Germany.

Shopping on the German version of Craigslist and at flea markets was successful; two old devices are being migrated to the new version.

Before anyone asks why there are #CISA Post-its all over the hardware, they’re a reminder of good times in the U.S. at #INL, which were marked by friendship, open dialogue, and learning. And that’s where the basic configuration is noted.

    Unfortunately, I don’t have any left 😕

@RoganDawes I felt something was missing in my IT/OT dropboxes, and these have surpassed Phantap in terms of functionality and capabilities for years now.

The difference between an OT dropbox and an IT dropbox lies in their intended use and functionality.

Please excuse me for not revealing more, but I protect my work and research. All too often, companies like hak5... have misused the work of others for their own commercial purposes, and I won’t tolerate that. There will be discussions about the boxes, and the dropboxes will be sent to people I know personally at #INL, #CISA, #Iberdrola, and others.

And since I was asked: my employer won’t be getting a single one, for good reason.

And since people keep asking, I don’t have a sponsor and pay for everything out of my own pocket because that’s the only way I can stay creative and independent.
