Went to the campus pride march at work today. It was long and my feet and knees hurt because i'm old and it's cold and icy but it was nice. It's so easy to get cynical and feel hopeless as our provincial government takes rights away from trans and gay people, but multiple provincial politicians and the mayor of Edmonton and hundreds of faculty and staff showed up to support LGBTQ students. It was good to see that not all hope is lost. And to hear people clearly state that every one is welcome at University of Alberta, and everyone welcome in Edmonton, but hate isn't!The mayor of #Edmonton #YEG Andrew Knack wearing a shirt that says "End Transphobia"
