I knew Chris Olah from a hackerspace I was apart of 15 years ago.@AmyZenunim My condolences, it's hard to lose a former friend to fascist anti-humanism that way.

Quake III Arena was one of the only video games ever released for Linux.@gbraad @SwiftOnSecurity That and Railroad Tycoon II were the games I wanted the most.
I already had the windows version of Alpha Centauri, so I didn't want to spend my limited pocket money on it.
The one retailer that carried Loki games though only ever seemed to have stuff like Quake III.

hmm@MiaWinter I can't hear the noise since my high frequency hearing has declined over the years, but if I had to guess, I would suspect coil whine from the boost converter.
I believe e-paper displays use a "high" voltage pulse to do a full refresh.
