Don't use LLM generated code in your projects yet!@cwebber I don’t know of case law but the UK’s Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988, Section 9(3) states:
"In the case of a literary, dramatic, musical or artistic work which is computer-generated, the author shall be taken to be the person by whom the arrangements necessary for the creation of the work are undertaken."
It’s language any legislature might be lobbied into inserting in their copyright statute.

Don't use LLM generated code in your projects yet!@cwebber The UK has a third option: the person operating the AI is the author and the output is copyrighted. Would not surprise me if the industry lobbies more jurisdictions into similar legislation.

When someone says „Scientists do not want you to know“ you can dismiss everything from there on.@kagan @jascha As a historian of science I can state that this claim hasn’t stood up since at least the 1950s and that the introduction of NDAs into the grant process about 20 years ago has made hiding the results more common than we might expect.
The most glaring recent example being the climate scientists at Shell who never disclosed their research but most commonly it happens in medical research.
