Douglas Adams talked about the ‘shoe event horizon’, where a society becomes so depressed and degenerate that it is economically impossible to build anything but shoe shops.The UK is full of Barber shops cafe's and nail bars, mostly because Maggie Thatcher destroyed our big industries in a fit of spite aimed at the Trade Unions, and the stupid UK voters loved her for it.
