@raulmatias @TehAppKiller @aboutsignal and how many could you buy? Thousand? And even it's 50 cents, then it would cost 500 dollars. So the cost aren't small. I think that for similar reason Anubis works on website by making crawler generating higher costs

I understand it may be cheaper for them to prevent bots, as phone numbers cost real money and it's good way to prevent spam to their servers. If they only knows that your phone is registered in their servers it's still privacy focus. And to be honest? I love the fact I see who from my contacts I can contact via signal
