    tron is fucking crazy. most powerful computer used to produce that movie was a fucking cray-1 super computer clocked at 80mhz which doesnt sound like a lot until you realize that the average workstation machine didnt start hitting those clocks until LATE 1994. October-November. Tron came out in 1982. They also used the FASTEST PDP-10 IN EXISTENCE at the time clocked at a smashing ~11mhz (i have a mips figure but not exact specs). a lot of it was vectors, but what was polygon-rendered took actual hours per Frame . and apparently hand masking had a lot more involvement than I thought. but it is little wild to me that in all likelihood i could render that entire movie on my phone in 4k in under an hour at most
