  • Trade offer: You put LineageOS on my LG G7 ThinQ, you receive a painting of a dragon or landscape, and I pay for all shipping costs.

@NiwlCraft I'm kind of low on time but this sounds rather easy given it's an officially supported device and I've flashed a couple custom ROMs before. If nobody else wants to, I'm happy to try. Based in Germany. I also know a couple software devs in France btw 🤔

@pointlessone Huh? Obviously people can _mention_ the name Firefox when referring to it? I'm not saying they should have called the browser "Firefox Zen", that would have been an obvious trademark violation. But of course they're allowed to point out the relationship of their project to the original. They appear to only do so deep down in their docs though (https://docs.zen-browser.app/contribute/desktop/code-structure-and-prefs)

@balterwenjamin42 I hate to be the bearer of bad news but no, Ladybird is not the project to follow.

    See https://hyperborea.org/reviews/software/ladybird-inclusivity/ and https://ladybird.org/posts/adopting-rust/

I'm rooting for there to be a viable browser on top of @servo in the future. They also had a brief "maybe we _should_ be using this fancy new tech" moment, but at least it was only a proposal, and they actually listened to the rather clear response.

And they appear not to be very keen on giving Firefox / Mozilla any credit for doing the bulk of the work either. The about / team page lists a bunch of people who have worked on it. No mention of it being a Firefox fork. It reuses Firefox'es sync service (not just the software, the actual service), even without explaining to their users why they're signing into a 'Firefox' account for the sync functionality.

Tried out Zen Browser. Really just a Firefox reskin, huh? At first I thought the whitespace + rounded corners around the actual content would be what would drive me away again.

But it was really the clear lack of interest in fixing any of the things drive me mad about Firefox (or Mozilla, really). They have (many of) the same "AI" bullshit features enabled by default (I guess not shoving them in your face? idk). Perplexity is available by default under search.
