@yurisizov The idea that everything that already exists is pure and complete and perfect and new things are to be shunned and hated isn't a new one, but it is a bad opinion to have.
There's some objective problems with the tech they showed off, and some imagined ones by the community, unfortunately. I probably wouldn't call it 'good enough' to get the DLSS title, but I also think it is objectively improving the fidelity 80% of the time.

@verge That one's interesting as the LLM in the lawsuit is literally doing a web search and providing a citation in the response linking directly to Encyclopedia Britannica IN the lawsuit.
Their own examples of memorization show the LLM searching and copy pasting the contents of the web pages and then linking to the web pages.

My professional opinion is that this is either being used as evaluation data, or as a data source to claim fully licensed data ("look, we have all this data we used for training"). They wouldn't be able to hire enough people to create the kind of corpus needed.
I can guarantee I am more informed on all of these matters than you.
So you just want to post biased, uninformed slop for some kind of crusade then got it.
But know that you're actively hurting open source development by supporting people abusing GitHub to file false reports, wasting hard working developers' time who are doing it FOR FREE, only because you're worried about 'copyright'. Great job, yeah great, Ayn Rand.

@gamingonlinux Your stated opinion in the piece, stating "Every extra person using all these AI tools is only adding to the issue." and "Not just that but copyright becomes an issue. Who actually owns the generated code? And now it's being hidden, how can anyone tell? Can you even truly claim it's open source when it's using AI generated code?" belies an ignorance of software development and an unhelpful bias of reporting. Open source projects don't need idiots swarming them.

@nina_kali_nina I'd never want the world I knew to stay static. Change is inevitable. I don't think it's ever worth mourning the past for the past's sake.
But, you say existential crisis, is your problem because it is good or because it's bad?
I assume the latter (I still can't get AI to complete simple tasks correctly the majority of the time).
