have they actually removed the ability to install debs via the GUI? this is bananas, easily the most user hostile thing I have seen in an ubuntu install

ubuntu 24 doesn't open .deb files? how are you supposed to install anything?

(yes it's my first time using desktop linux for a while)

@Edent have you seen any difference in video call apps like google meet, zoom, discord, or streaming *upload* like twitch?

streaming download is fine for me on a ~60mbps connection but the fidelity of the above apps is often awful and I'm wondering if fibre would fix it

they're not even good now, my phone frequently fails to spot typos with a levenshtein distance of 1 from correct spelling

this is one of those cases where the API design and documentation examples make it *worse* to use this than to not encrypt your data at all, b/c it gives inexperienced users an illusion of safety where none exists
