Thank you for coming to my TEDtalk.
@ApostateEnglishman Canadians fucking warned you.
@jd I've been overusing this gif lately
@Bowreality @Asymmetricblue @robyn My printer at home is a Value Village special I found for $10, it's USB only and the toner I bought remanufactured for cheap. It's pretty pain free.
@Bowreality @Asymmetricblue @robyn They were my favourite printers at work, zero issues with them. They just *worked*.
LOUDLY but, they did the thing.
Meanwhile our other printers:
Mercury is in tomatogate, I'ma eat all your paper and barf toner everywhere k? K.
That will be $600.
@Bowreality @Asymmetricblue @robyn Ha truth. Mine looks like it was clearly done on a form printer using a dot Matrix printer or other type of impact printer, circa 1980s, which tracks.
Where I worked we literally *just* got rid of our (newish) Epson Dot Matrix printers which were still used in specific applications where thermal printers couldn't be used because of label incompatibility with the products.
@Bowreality @Asymmetricblue @robyn The original 'short form' one is card sized and made out of paper and very fragile.
@Bowreality @Asymmetricblue @robyn Ah yeah! I remember requesting a long form birth certificate for my UK Visa and it came and I was like Jeebus, thing is like a full sheet of 8.5" x 11" out of polymer and hella fancy.
@Bowreality @Asymmetricblue @robyn I know we have 'marrige licenses' here as well, but I believe it's a big giant peice of paper / plastic that's for legal documentation, but I don't believe we carry it around.
@Chigaze Eeeew
@robyn It still blows my mind that Alberta, the *literally most wealthy province in Canada* issues PAPER HEALTHCARDS to it's populace.
.....
Have you no pride AHS?
@renata Hahahah I feel this on a spiritual level.

Employer doing a stoopid and want to burn everything down vs. existing.
@jerome I was initially redicent to move instances based on an accusation, but on further investigation and input from others, my feelings changed - especially on governance and management processes that were pretty much non existent on mstdn.ca.
I switched to @coop and I've been happy since π₯°
I do wish him well though, and props to the work he put in over the years.
I hope justice prevails.

@johnefrancis What's wrong babe you've barely made any incessant noise for no discernable reason?
@Bowreality @mastodonmigration @Pinchy63 Yeah basically the same here. I think mine is something like 95% Canadian buuuut that's as about as domestic as I could get it without doing it all on my own, and I do not have the time or knowledge to do that
@Bowreality @mastodonmigration @Pinchy63 We do not have IRAs and 401ks here in Canada AFAIK.
Though, if your pension fund (or RSP/RRSP) has the Nasdaq listed it's possible. Only way to find out would be to ask I suppose.
@Natasha_Jay I wonder if cats miss CRTs.
