If we are not replacing leaders on the basis or justification of righteousness then what is the actual reason we are committing these acts?

Having a hellish time on this remote pentest so far. VLAN segmentation, good patching, complex passwords. Nothing working for me yet.

Will try harder but my enthusiasm is waning today.

My rice turned out great. Was regretting using the rice cooker instead of the microwave sticky rice (2 mins vs ~50 mins) but it was worth it in the end.

Rice and sweetcorn cooking for lunch. Feel like crap today, didn't sleep great last night.

The thoughts to branch out into Managed SOC have been coming round again.
The best and most straight forward setup (for me) so far has been Elastic SIEM, XSOAR (even just Community Edition), MISP, and an open source ticketing tool.

I would REALLY love to be able to get Wazuh and Shuffle and The Hive or DFIR IRIS working FOR ME. It's been about 9 months since I tried.

Is it any better in Feb 2026?

This pentest is interesting. Finding old systems with (so far) unexploitable vulns. VLAN segmentation making DNS poisoning more difficult.
Back to it on Monday. Plenty of time left.

Feel like crap today, general anxiety/stress. Didn't sleep well last night and the kids have been on half-term break from school.
