  • Monkland station?
    heliomass@mstdn.caH heliomass@mstdn.ca

@VE2UWY @EdwinG It is funny to see the "Train" logos on the bus stops, which for so many years were meaningless as the REM was being built, but have now suddenly regained their relevance.

@EdwinG Thanks. I keep reading about NFS being retired on Mac, which has made me skittish.

@david_megginson Not sure if you're speaking about Toronto in particular, but I'm curious about how good the underground connections are between malls in terms of being step-free? In Montreal, there's a bit of neglect at the point where the malls and office buildings connect underground.

@jfmezei Thanks, it's all very strange. It's probably something which will get fixed when they roll out the new design bus stop signs.

@NeueWelle It's really odd. Was it a deliberate easter egg from someone in the STM signage department?

Monkland station? I wonder what the story is here, because as far as I know there is no such station.

Well, this isn’t at all terrifying </sarcasm>

I think the nightmare scenario has always been Skynet (I.e. Allowing AI unmonitored control of weapons), and it looks like that’s where the idiots want to take us.

    📖 “Toronto's underground labyrinth”

I do like the idea of referring to these underground networks as “pedestrian metros”. I think the few cities which have them are all the better for it, even though they’re flawed in many ways.

I’m looking for some advice: What’s the best protocol to use for sharing files on a Linux box with Macs? (I’m thinking of using the Finder, rather than something like rsync)

I’ve been told AFP is no longer well supported by Macs, but that SMB can also cause issues.

@uxmark @CyclingGuide Interesting. I guess it may vary between suburb. I’ve walked through a few in Greater Montreal where you’re forced onto the main road to get across because there are no back routes due to all the dead ends. Miserable places.

I remember it took several attempts to get a day where it was actually visible, even from this close.

The difference these make to a walkable suburb versus one which makes you take long detours on foot is really underrated.

Been a while since I’ve been out on the Greater Anglia network, but these trains look fab.

(Ottawa has trains from the same family I believe, although I’ve not yet ridden those either yet)
