@res260 Thanks, I’ve added that link to my reading backlog. Perhaps it’s fair to say the model for the AT Protocol requires a bit more effort to understand (at a high level) than ActivityPub?

I feel like we’re supposed to believe Bluesky is going to become some open standard utopia like the Fediverse, but I don’t think it’s anywhere close, nor is it ever going to be. -
I feel like we’re supposed to believe Bluesky is going to become some open standard utopia like the Fediverse, but I don’t think it’s anywhere close, nor is it ever going to be.I tried to educate myself a little better on the differences between Mastodon and Bluesky. I’m still sceptical that on Bluesky you can ever have something as decentralised as we have over here. Maybe I’m not understanding things fully, but it seems you still need Bluesky’s relay to make things work… at least for now.

Aside from a chance of freezing rain tonight, safe to say Montreal’s winter is finally over?@JustinDerrick Oh, I forgot about the planet-is-burning season. I miss the old seasons.

Well, new instance so a new #introduction is in order.@evan Thanks for the invite! I’ll try and make it along to one of the events.

Well, new instance so a new #introduction is in order.@jfmezei I’m not sure it works like that… It’s like asking someone from Iceland if they know Björk or Sigur Róz (although in that case it often turns out they do).

Well, new instance so a new #introduction is in order.@jfmezei @pl I’ve got some bad news for you. Apparently there are other Londons too! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/London_(disambiguation)
I’m very surprised there’s one in France.

Hi, I’m Daniel. I grew up in London (England), and a series of fortunate circumstances brought me to Montreal. My day job is in software engineering (mainly DevOps these days).
My profile has more information about the kind of content I tend to post, but certainly I’ve felt at home on Mastodon since I joined back in 2017, and I’m happy to be here on CoSocial!
