@emilymbender @404mediaco I'm happy to say that I am currently being a stick in the mud at work about this.

Heads-up for anyone who doesn't want their posts scraped and handed over to an LLM.@YvanDaSilva @dalias I mean, if he leaves, he will not be missed.

A popular Python library just became a backdoor to your entire machine@mayintoronto @Khrys I heard some "I hope we're not using this" remarks about this today.
Hope.

Welp, for the first semester ever, SOTA LLMs can do *every single assignment, from scratch (readmes, etc.), and get 100%*.@steve @cross @krismicinski @shriramk @jfdm @csgordon @lindsey @jeremysiek As a professional programmer now almost 20 years out from defending a thesis that was about code generation, I can't upvote this enough.
LLMs are an incredibly inefficient way to do code reuse.

Deadline for comments on a million SpaceX "AI data centers" and a company that wants to deliver "sunlight as a service."@sundogplanets For what it's worth, I've submitted mine.
I don't have anything of substance to add except "this sucks", basically, but I'm sending the comment anyway.

between 1968 and maybe a decade ago, there was a bar next to the U of Utah called Big Ed's, and I think you know the place already: the beer is not very good.@regehr Yeah, eating out was a treat when I was young (and well into university). I remember when I got stitches out my dad promising me we'd go to McDonald's if I didn't cry. I didn't cry. We didn't go to McDonald's. (I still didn't cry.)
But those drunk garbage food binges were a helluva a lot of fun.

Feel sorry for the kids these days.

When sobriety was not on the table, those burgers sure as hell were.
