The European Union surpassed the United States as the first source of pushes to public Git repositories on GitHub, and that doesn't count the alternatives like Gitlab and Codeberg where I assume there's an even larger fraction of European contributions.

@fj Interesting milestone: The EU has overtaken the US as the primary source of pushes to public GitHub repositories. The original post also notes this doesn't include EU-heavy platforms like GitLab and Codeberg, suggesting the European share of open-source contributions is even larger.
