Gee, I wonder what's in Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, and the UAE that might be relevant to an American bombing campaign against Iran.
If you notice Serge getting more racist than usual, let me know.

What other group is having their drivers' licences taken away, as a class?
What other group is going to have their extremely vulnerable identity printed on their drivers' licence like a fucking pink triangle?
What other group, by law, is mandated to face more severe criminal punishments?
What other group is facing legal segregation in schools and bathrooms?
Trans rights have been pushed back 60+ years behind everybody else.
Genuinely, if you are trying to make the argument that transphobia is less serious than other forms of discrimination, the only plausible explanation is that you're an anti-trans bigot.
Transphobia is as bad as every other form of discrimination any group faces in the US.
Kansas just revoked all trans people's drivers' licences without notice.
The penalty for driving without a license in Kansas is up to six months in prison. And Kansas punitively punishes trans people all dramatically more severely than people in any other group, by placing them in the wrong prison.

Similarly, transphobia is generally going to harm Black trans women the most.
The fact that Black trans women exist and are extremely socially vulnerable is an argument for fighting against transphobia from all sources.
"Black trans women exist" should encourage you to care more about transmisogny, not less.
But that does not seem like how people use that term.
In this example, I read the Orange as saying that we should impose consequences on John Davidson for being disabled, because a Black person with Tourette's would have behaved differently.
But that's not true.
Black people with Tourette's exist.
People with Tourette's do not have control over their tics.
If we encourage society to punish people with Tourette's for their tics, that's obviously going to harm Black people with Tourette's more than most other groups.
"Black people have Tourette’s too" really has me realizing that I genuinely do not think I understand the "Black trans people exist too" thing.
It seems to me that "Black people have Tourette's too" is a good argument for being less shitty to disabled people, not an argument for punishing disabled people for being disabled.
For what it's worth, I think E2EE over ActivityPub is mostly a bad idea.
You'd want your messages encrypted to hide them from your instance admin, but in most cases your instance admin also controls your client.
Plus, what are the odds they come up with a more safe implementation than Signal?
#mastondon Friends! There is a TON of improvements we could make to Private Mentions (often called DMs on other platforms) e.g. * getting them out of the public timeline * Having a stronger notification tied to the Private Mention tab * (amount other things) But here is my MAIN question: How critical is it that these message are encrypted? I'm not against encryption! It's just complex and will take time. If we were to make some UX changes as a first pass WITHOUT encryption would you be OK with that (at least for now?) If you MUST have encryption, that's fine, please do me the favor of replying explaining why you need it.

If anybody is curious what else is going on with BlueSky, a few people seem to be extremely mad at trans women for not supporting... Gavin Newsom?
