Ukrposhta has released a new stamp that pays tribute to Ukrainian skeleton athlete Vladyslav Heraskevych and his helmet of remembrance at the Milan/Cortina Olympic Games.

The image takes us back to the start of the war when Ukrainian soldiers refused to abandon Zmiinyi (Snake) Island. In response to Russian orders to surrender, a Ukrainian soldier stood up, raised his third finger and shouted: "Russian warship, go f*** yourself!"

    Remembrance is not violation.

Ukrainian skeleton racer Vladyslav Heraskevych's father, Mykhailo, sitting near the start house, broke down in tears when the IOC disqualified Vladyslav from Milano Cortina 2026 minutes before his first run on 12 February.

The decision was announced because the athlete refused to remove a helmet bearing portraits of Ukrainian athletes killed in Russia's war against Ukraine.

Ukraine's FM Andrii Sybiha called it "a moment of shame" for the IOC.
