Improved ventilation requirements would reduce sickness in population so improve productivity and reduce NHS costs and waiting times, but joined up thinking is impossible for politicians.

@ChrisMayLA6 I recall an outbreak I was vaguely attached to, that was eventually linked to a teenager with an eye infection, hence runny nose, so when he blew his nose or sneezed, he spread the outbreak strain around, as well as all the other activities teenagers get up to that enable menigococcus to be passed person to person.

@ZackPolanski Clearly not, but before the ultimate step of imposing a wealth tax per se, perhaps removing the NI ceiling, and making capital gains tax equal to your highest rate of income tax, and then enforcing the tax law, especially the firms that don't pay corporation tax they ought to.... Much easier and would help remove inequity in the UK.

@jadp @petergleick nor is Israel! The important point is did the alleged crime involve a signatory. Palestine is a full member, but Iran is merely a signatory who has not ratified the treaty. I'm unclear if that permits it to act. Can some international lawyer clarify?

@naturepunk @simonzerafa @kibcol1049 if we can't launch them unless the US says we can because our warheads are at some undefined depth in the ocean then effectively we don't have an independent deterrent.

@simonzerafa @kibcol1049 We don't have an independent nuclear deterrent at the moment, nor have we for some time. We are merely the Off shore base of the US nuclear deterrent. At the moment France looks a more reliable shelter if we really feel we need one.
